I killed a target as he was standing on the podium. For example, my last kill in the video above is with a sniper rifle. Ghost mode also has some inconsistencies with how it scores. And it doesn’t feel good to just walk into bullets to kill yourself. You lose all your items and they will continue searching for you until you change your clothes, but it’s easier than just wasting time burning through all of your items and costumes trying to lose your “hunted” status. For example, if you end up in combat with NPCs, it is best to let them kill you. My opponent even noticed and asked how I got that kill. One of the best moments of my match was finding a sniper rifle and getting a kill from across the map. You could get a new costume, a crowbar, or a silenced sniper rifle. Instead of putting stuff in the world, Ghost mode just has giant glowing boxed that have random items inside. I also think the way this mode handles items is smart. For example, having to rush to get a kill after your opponent has scored a point is very exciting. Finally, if your opponent gets the kill before you, you have about 20 seconds to also get the kill on that target. If you kill an innocent civilian, the game subtracts a point from your score (you can’t go lower than zero). If someone does see you commit murder, you will lose that point. You score a point by killing that target without anyone spotting you. The game chooses a target for you and your opponent to go after at the same time. Instead, the ghost exists to give you a sense of urgency and a vague idea of what your enemy is doing.
You can see your rival in the world as a ghost, but you can not interact with their world (with one exception). In Ghost mode, you want to get 5 points/kills before your opponent. As of today, Ghost mode only works on the Miami map, and it only has its default rule set. In that video, you can watch me take on a friend in two different matches.
If you want to watch some Ghost mode gameplay, you can click play at the top. But it also seems limited, which makes sense considering Ghost mode (as developer IO Interactive calls it) is still in beta. The rules of this mode are convoluted and strict, and they lead to some intense moments.
This competitive game type has players racing to get to five assassinations in a head-to-head bout. Hitman 2 is scheduled to launch on November 13 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.Hitman 2 has an online multiplayer mode for the first time in the franchise’s history. There's a new trailer attached below which shows a bit of gameplay footage from Ghost mode and just how it will work. All in all, this seems like a pretty novel idea and while it might not be a vital component of Hitman 2, it sounds like a ton of fun to play. In Hitman fashion, you'll have to remain hidden in order for your kill to count. It's also worth noting that you can't just run in and shoot your target in the face to achieve points. The targets will be chosen at random and once one player eliminates them, a new target on the map will appear. The first player to eliminate five of these targets wins the matchup. Interactive Entertainment and IO Interactive this morning announced Ghost mode, a 1v1 multiplayer offering that will see two assassins pursuing the same target on a map. Hitman 2 will already have quite a bit of content when it launches next month, but today, a new multiplayer game mode was revealed to also be included.
